Kath x
-
Many thanks, Kath, very much appreciated. That must have been a grim day indeed for poor old Joshua :(
I reckon he must have been related, if there were so few Gibsons, but I have a couple of missing generations to fill in as my 3g/grandfather Thomas Gibson was born c1814 in Gt. Waltham. He had a son named Joshua!
I had a very nice Christmas thanks, and hope you did.
Happy New Year,
Mike. :)

Hi Kath,
I've been researching my Gibsons a bit more, and have dug out a few more, but I find that they were sometimes called Gipson, or even Gypson. If you are not too busy, I wonder if you might have a quick look to see if these names are listed among those burials.
Mike. :)
-
Hi Mike
There are no Gipson or Gypsons listed hun
Kath x

Thanks for looking anyway, Kath. Much appreciated. :-*

I would be interested in the HALL(S)es. I have both versions in my tree in Chigwell, not so very far away.
A bit of a longshot, I know, but I am stuck about 1810 or so with them.
No rush though.
Thanks for offering.

Thanks again Kath. Much appreciated.
At least with so few there aren't too many to eliminate. I should think there must be a connection there somewhere, my only known Walden was Esther, my 5g/grandmother who married Thomas Gibson in 1770.
Mike. :)

Thank you Kath,
I'am not sure about that lot.
I need to link them to James Adams 1766-1839 Little Sailing essex
(Bardfield Sailing )
All i know is his second marriage to Elizabeth Savill in 1812.
I am trying to find Jame's mum &dad & his first wife's name.
I tryed Essex Seax but no luck.
can you help please
regards Mick
-
Hi Kath,
Thanks for those Adams, William, Sarah and Susanna are my ancestors, James is the sibling of an ancestor and the son of Susanna. Timothy, father of Timothy, John and Thomasin, is the son of William & Sarah and his brother William (husband of Susanna) is my ancestor.
Could you do a recheck of the burial date for James is it the 18th or 13th, sorry to be a pest but I have (probably incorrectly) 18th.
I was particularly pleased to have Susanna's burial date, it was something I meant to look up during several visits to the UK but never got round to it. It explains why I found no child named after William's mother Sarah nor one named Susanna, although one was named Ann in 1777.
Regards
-
Just a quickie to anyone on this post that is into the Hasler family. I've been researching the Great Waltham Haslers for years and would love to contact anyone else interested in them.
If anyone knows where the earliest James Hasler (who married Mary circa 1755) came from then I would be ecstatic, as he has avoided my detection for the last 6 years.
-
Hi Derek
I definate;y have the 13th as the day of burial but i will double check the fiche for you

Dear Kath,
I can't tell you how grateful I am for all these lovely look-ups. I did not want you to blitz yourself to death stopping up till 2am!!!!
To be honest, a bit of time had gone past since I posted my request to you, so I really thought you had got bored with doing this for everyone - and I would not have blamed you, either. It is a lot of work.
I'll go through everything you've found for me now, and see if I can make any sense of it. Have also found a distant cousin through one of the other look ups you have already done from Great Waltham - so thanks a lot, this is great stuff.
Best wishes,
Edwina

Thank you so much, Kath.
Some of these SORRELs sound very posh. I think mine must be the other branch. Either that or they spent the lot long ago!!
Very helpful. :D (= my first attempt at a smiley on this board, I think)

Hi Kath,
Would you check if there is a burial for an Elizabeth Sturdy in Gt Waltham burials please.
I know she was in Gt Waltham on 20 May 1766 as a witness to the marriage of Susannah Sturdy to William Adams.
I am trying/hoping to establish if Elizabeth was Susannah's sister or mother.
Susannah was baptised 1739 and Elizabeth 1743, both in Nun Monkton, Yorkshire, the PRs gave the fathers name as Oswald but the mother's name was not recorded. Someone in Yorkshire, for a fee, verified the IGI baptisms for me in the Nun Monkton PRs and searched unsuccessfully for the marriage. The researcher found a burial for Oswald but nothing for the mother.
Regards.

Much appreciated

Thanks again Kath. Much appreciated.
At least with so few there aren't too many to eliminate. I should think there must be a connection there somewhere, my only known Walden was Esther, my 5g/grandmother who married Thomas Gibson in 1770.
Mike. :)
Hello Mike
I have Thomas GIBSON & Esther WALDEN in my tree - they are my 5th Great Grandparents too. I descend through his son & Grandson both named Thomas and then Charles Frederick GIBSON & Julia Tolley.
I live in Australia and would love to hear from you
-
Hi Julie,
As you can see, it's 4 years since I worked on that branch of my tree . . . I had to look twice because I couldn't believe so much time had passed :-\
I don't have much well-checked information on the Gibsons but my descent is through Emma Gibson, who appears to be a double gt. granddaughter of Thomas as her parents were 1st cousins. Well, that was what I thought at the time, but as I say I haven't visited them lately.
I'll have to refresh my memory on this branch and get back to you . . .
Mike.
-
Hi
Any info on my ancestors would be appreciated: Alexander Hevet (5th great grandfather) married Love Seer 14 June 1757 in Great Waltham. I am particularly curious to find out is Hevet is a French family name. (Hauvet, Hevet, Hewitt)
Thank you
Pauline Wilson

Hi, I just wanted to say what a lovely resource this thread is!
I have ancestors in and around White Notley, Braintree, and in there I have Horsenail, Poulter, and Alger. The A 'hints' for Alger and Poulter are in a totally wrong area, so I think those people in my tree are likely related to the ones in this thread!
I don't suppose there are corresponding birth and marriage records for the people in the graveyard?
