Bradford / Beswick burial sites - pre 1936
« on: Sunday 29 June 14 17:32 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

After a long break from researching my tree, I'm finally looking into previous 'brick walls', hopefully with fresh eyes.
The stem of family I'm looking into lived in the Bradford / Beswick area, which I believe is now the city of manchester stadium, and most of them worked at the Bradford Iron works. What I need to know is where any churches were in that area that people could've been buried in graveyards, and what happened to those burials when the area was demolished.
The family name I'm researching at the moment is Johnson, so not an easy one to come back to!!
I look forward to your replies.

Thanks in advance, Benn
Westwood. Johnson. Webbon. Duffy. Street. Turner. Haycock. McGlynn. Cogan. Reavey.

It's probably worth searching the Manchester Council database.

See http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=409757.0
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

Census information is Crown Copyright. See www.nationalarchives.gov.uk for details.

St Cross Church has a burial ground and M&LFHS have a CD of the Burials from 1874 to 1953
I was one of the team that helped transcribe to 5648 Burials  recorded  This was done in 2009
It is situated on the corner of Clayton Lane and Ashton New Road M11
