Getting frustrated need help.   Why can I not find death of Benjamin Aspin son of Thomas and Jane, born 1833 Rochdale. Married Adelaide Wild 1954. On 1881 census she was a widow. Am I missing something?

He may not have been in the workhouse itself.  I think you have to remember that most hospitals at that time were the ones attached to a workhouse.  Therefore a death in the workhouse infirmary would more than likely have been recorded as just "Workhouse".   He may have been admitted for various reasons (accident, fever, infectious disease etc. ).  His death certificate may help.

will get death cert to confirm 1880 death in Oldham workhouse, as this looks likely as his widow remarried oct 1881. many thanks to everyone who replied with help.
