There is no mrge in or around the area of your interest to fit, that I can currently find. The only mrge's that comes near to fitting your requirements are that of ;
James Thomas of Begelly who married Rebecca Morris at Jeffreston 29th Apr 1815.

From my transcript of the Parish registers of Pembroke St Michael
09 Apr 1816 James Thomas a bachelor of Pembroke St Michael married Rebecca Davies a spinster of Pembroke St Michael by banns in front of William Lloyd. Both made their mark in the presence of John Bett and William Froyne.

Do you have all their children? Do any of their children have a 2nd forename that perhaps gives any indication of mothers maiden name?

Owen
             The James Thomas I was after born 1782 in Rudbaxton in the  1861 census he was listed as father inlaw to a daughter Sararh Howell age 48.

James Thomas died in 1862 in Lambston.

So I may have got the wrong mother name but that was the only close to Sarah birth date

1851 shows James Thomas of Rudbaxton born circa 1782  therefore his mrge may be
James Thomas to Ann Adams at Camrose in 1808
James Thomas to Ann Harries at Walwyns Castle in 1801
James Thomas to Anne Williams at Spittal 20 Oct 1801
James Thomas to Anne Vaughan at Prendergast in 1801 ******

James & Ann Thomas the bootmaker and James and Mary Thomas the Farmer are at Rudbaxton 1841 and 1851, but only James Thomas the Pauper is in Rudbaxton in 1861.

Given that you say "the James Thomas I was after was born at Rudbaxton in 1782", I presume you are going on more than just an entry in a census.

I may well be wrong, but can see no way a "Rebecca" fits in with this family.

Am I correct in believing that Owen Howel (sic) married Sarah Thomas in 1846, and that Sarah is at Camrose in 1841?

Not much help I'm afraid
