Hi, you might also find the following website of use since it has many photographs of people in and around Alford in Aberdeenshire. There is information relating to places, people, history, and clans and families, and the website is increasingly being used as a local resource in genealogical studies in this part of North East Scotland.

www.alfordimages.com
Talbot, Wellings, Higgs, Bunce, Boad, Winsper, Parish/Parrish, Probert, Robinson, Matheson, MacDonald, Watson, MacHardy, McHardy, Pirie

http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/

Combines results from RCAHMS and the National Archives.

At county level also provides the 1790s Horse Tax returns.

Useful images of places and buildings.

SCRAN

Am Baile - posted above is excellent. There's a searchable index of newspapers etc - articles of interest can be requested and these are sent through quickly via email. There's also a number of scanned texts and out of copyright books - new content added regularly.

And no, I'm not affiliated with the site, just a fan!!
Steadwood worldwide, Horsburgh, McBean (and variants), Pride, Ross, mostly in the Lothian and Borders area, Ingles and variants from Buckie, Wilson, Stoddart.
