3rd Great Grandmother Born 1831 in need of restoration
« on: Wednesday 16 April 14 21:02 BST (UK) »
Hello all....I just received the shock of all shocks.

A cousin, whom I have never met, just sent me a picture of our 3rd Great Grandmother.

I was hoping that one of your artistic wizards could help me bring her to life once again!

Hugs of appreciation sent your way!

Can you ask your cousin to scan it as there's a lot of external light.
They won't have to take it out they can scan it as it is.

Hello there Jim

Thanks for the note.

He does not want to take the photo out of its cover since it is so old I bet.  Will see if I can get ahold of him.

Hi Carole...don't take the photo out of its cover, no...it's not a print and it's developed directly on the glass. Don't even try to take it out unless you are a professional conservator.

Just ask him to lay the thing face down on the scanner and scan at 300dpi. It would be good if he could drag a box around the inner bit, inside the red fuzzy border, as all the extra stuff takes up file size.

Cheers,

HUGS to dear friend Restorer.

I called this cousin up and he could not scan it like we normally could.

He could only take a photo of it.

Thanks again to you!  This was a rare find!  This was the first time I had actually spoken to this 2nd cousin!

Do hope this finds you doing well.  DO have to love what you can do with these photos.

You are amazing!

OH Tommy

My dear Tommy.  This is fantastic.  Thanks EVER ever so much!  What a lovely LOVELY lovely surprise.

I am still soooo thrilled to have found a distant cousin who had this photo!  He has the original.  He said he had tried to scan it but it would not show up when since it was in the frame!

YOU are just wonderful wonderful wonderful for doing this for me.  Have to love the two of you for working soooo hard!
