Nurse photo maybe Martha Mann
« on: Thursday 24 April 14 13:24 BST (UK) »
I think the lady in this photograph may be my Great Aunt, Martha Mann 1903-1937. It is post card type, the photographer being Ed G Brewis 10-12 New Bridge St, Newcastle upon Tyne. I would be grateful for information on the uniform and any other help as I try to prove who the the sitter is. Many thanks

Hopefully someone will come along with the info you are looking for.

In the meantime, here are a couple of pictures with the damage repaired.

I am no expert but the crosses on the lap and the arm look very much like the St John Ambulance cross.

Great photo.

Is that a black arm band or part of the uniform?

Wonder if it is WW1 era? (though that probably doesn't tie in very well with someone b 1903  :))

Possibly some significance to the paper/letter on her lap.

I would agree that the cross on the arm band and her lap match the St John's ambulance. If you go to their web site here >>https://www.sja.org.uk/sja/default.aspx<< you can see an example at the very top of the page.
