Is The Surname Dassow Or Dussow

Now that I'm back into Ancestry I'm back to my favourite pastime,that is adding rellies!I'm looking at a surname in the Truro/St Austell area.Should it read Dassow or Dussow?

Have you tried looking at freebmd.org.uk to see how frequently occurring the surname is and where it occurs?

Thanks,certain records are iven as Dassow and some as Dussow on Ancestry.

After making contact with the relative just on Genes Re-united I can confirm it should read Dassow.

I wouldnt take any surname as hard and fast to any particular spelling, especially as you get further back. Spelling generally was more "fluid" and with many folk unable to read or write, the spelling is often just as that particular person on that particular day thought it should be.  Someone else, on hearing it, would have used a different spelling!
