Marriage John Elliott
« on: Wednesday 12 February 14 13:11 GMT (UK) »
info i have so far is John Elliott born 3rd sept 1837 at Clay Cross
Wife Harriett, this is on 1861 -1911 census. census states her place of birth Clay Cross
Marriage around 1857
I would guess that the marriage could be in the North Wingfield Parish records

I have found a marriage dated 12th April 1857 at St. Peters Church Derby, but not totally sure that its the correct one

thanks for any help

Do you have John's marriage entry - what is his occupation?  From the 1861 census he is a master miller, whilst in 1851 he is aged 13 and employed at home.  His father is a farmer and miller.  Therefore if John's occupation at marriage has anything to do with milling, I would be 99.99999% sure that I had the right marriage.

Hello,

1851 shows Harriett Mycroft , 14 yrs (1837) born Clay Lane with parents William and Sophia.

The age and pob fits with later censuses for Harriett Elliott.

The certificate would confirm for you. Why are you unsure re the Derby marriage?

Is this what you have? https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KBNS-PXN

i personally don't think its the marriage haywood, because, the names i have now as possible spouces are Harriett Mycroft or Harriett Taylor both born in, or very near Clay Cross. so i'd have thought because also John Elliott was from Clay Cross, and lived in Clay Cross, they'd be married around Clay Cross, not Derby.
cheers :)

Only one way to find out then  ;D  Or find someone who has access to Derby St Peter.  You pays your money or you takes your chance.   ;)

You could get a child's birth certificate.

I can't see a Harriett Taylor from Clay Cross but as I posted earlier there is a Harriett Mycroft who fits.

There are published trees with this information so it would be best for you to purchase the certificate to discount that marriage.

Family Search has some baptisms for children of John and Harriett. One is Anna Sophia. Harriet Mycroft's mother was Sophia.

Free BMD has a birth and death for Hannah Sophia.
