He isn't with parents on any census?

Reckon you'll need to purchase his birth certificate to find that information?

Great Grandad vernon must have been illegitimate has his name didn't show on William Henry's birth certificate  who was born in 1888 the mothers name is Annie but no fathers name so that is where we are stuck I'm just hoping for a break through somewhere.

If you look at the 1881 RG11; Piece: 3441; Folio: 82; Page: 44  all the Hewitts are together, Mother Sarah aged 61 a widow. Living with them is Sarah A Verdon aged 10, grand daughter born Spinkhill.

Then in 1871  RG10; Piece: 3618; Folio: 64; Page: 33;

Birth & Marriage certificates are informant driven, so if there isn't a father mentioned on William Henry's birth certificate, does it say anything on his marriage certificate?

Other than that, if you can find the baptism, some vicars weren't so reticent about naming father's?!

Finally, maybe there is a legal document for maintenance? Like a bastardy order?
