Thank you very much for this information.  Peter Roy was my late husband's grandfather.  He was named as father on the birth certificate of Elsie Roy who was born 21/12/1894 in Rogart, Sutherland to a Mary Murray.  I can only assume Mary was working in the Moray/Banff area as she belonged to Rogart.

What a coincidence that Margaret also called her daughter Elsie.

I like to do a search of newspapers for eulogy's and wonder if you can give me the name of any local paper covering the Fordyce area where I could see if any were written for Peter or Margaret.

Sorry I cannot give you the name of a paper that would have been around in the 1940's. I live in Canada, so I am not too familiar with the area. Apparently the current newspaper that covers the Dufftown area is called the Northern Scott. You might want to place an ad in it to try and contact some of Margaret's children.
