Surnames (on photos) from Ontario Co. 1860-1890 & Halton and York Co.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I have several photographs of persons who were either friends or relations of my ancestors and am needing help identifying these people and figuring out if they were relatives or not.

I am guessing most of these persons had (at some point) lived in the Brock, Thorah or Mara Townships in the County of Ontario or the Kirkfield area in Elgin Twp. Co Victoria.  Possibly also Halton Co., Esquesing Twp area and King Twp., York County as some relatives were also living there.

If anyone recognizes a name or surname from these areas I'd love to hear from you.

Hi Karen,

I have a Frank Judd that married one of my Langmaid ancestros in the 1870s. Not sure if it would be same fellow. My ancestors were married in Michigan, however I think the family was from the Brantford, ON area. There were lots of Americans from NY that settled in that area as well.

I have absolutely no clue as to who this Frank Judd is but because he is in my COWAN family photo album I have to assume he was at least born or had lived near my relatives.  They are the Cowan, Perry & Gibbs families in this album and for the most part lived in Ontario Co. with the Perrys in York Co. and a 2nd Cowan line in Halton.

Would you happen to have picture to compare with?

I'd be happy to send you a copy of the photo.  Just pm me with your e-mail and I'll send a copy - it doesn't sound like the same person (going by location) but who knows?

Hi Karen,

Sorry, I don't have a picture of Frank. However, I spoke to my cousin (she doesn't have pix either) in Michigan alst nite and she will ask her g-aunt  to see if she has a picture of him. I'm not sure how long this will take though. I'm going to be visiting my cousin in a couple of weeks so hopefully we will be able to find something by then. I would like to get an image him as well for my records :-)

My Frank Judd's wife's family emigrated to Brantford from UK and then settled in the Muskoka area so there is a possibility of a connection to your fellow. Ontario Co is only a hop, skip, and jump from Muskoka. Your family names don't rin a bell, but hey, who knows.

How are you coming along with identifying the others you are looking for?

Yes, I do have them and think I have some photos of some of that family.  There are some Brain photos in the album and some Cowan's of Trafalgar.

Are you somehow connected to this family?

No relationship that I am aware of,just a lifetime resident of Tragalgat Tsp.The Brain's had a farm not too far from us.I went to High School with several members of the Cowan Family.

Small world - I grew up in Oakville but, unfortunately, knew nothing about the Cowans and Brains while I was living there - many years ago
