I've found the marriage of William Buchanan and Catherine Anderson  :D

Glasgow - Calton

5th Sept 1862, Free Church of Scotland (image very poor - I'll have to do some enhancing)

William Buchanan, Shoemaker Journeyman, Bachelor, aged 23. Parents - Robert Buchanan, Baker, deceased and Jane, maiden surname McKinlay

and

Catherine Anderson, ?(not hand) loom weaver, spinster, aged 21. Parents - James Anderson, (occ looks like Twister  ::)), deceased and Jessie m.s. ? Burnside.

I'l get back to you when I can make the images clearer.

A bit more from the marriage cert:

location of marriage:
12 Monteith Row, Glasgow

Residence at time of marriage (both):
122 Main Street, Bridgeton, Glasgow

Still not sure about Catherine's parents details. Here's what it says:

Thanks Monica - it confirms the Burnside  :)

Do you know what a Twister was - I'm assuming it was something to do with cotton/linen/wool production.

Not sure Gadget, not one I've come across but the very name does make you think of weaving etc.

I'm just trying to find them on the censuses. This is the closest I can see so far for 1841:

Jas Anderson    25, compositor, b. Scotland
Jessie Anderson 20, , b. Scotland
Anne Jeffrey    8
Wm Traser 20

Address: Paterson St, Glasgow St Pauls

It would be nice if the two deceased parents died after 1855.

Any sign on the 1851 for either set of parents?

I'm getting squiffy/sore eyes and would be grateful for some help on them  :-\

Jessie looks to have died in 1892, age 74, in Dennistoun, Glasgow. Widow of James, a coal miner (?), father John, a xxx something weaver and mother Catherine MacDonald. Son William reported the death.

So William was still around after the marriage to Letitia - I wonder if son Robert, father of Robert (b.1890) was around at his death - it might give us some clues about what happened.

:-\ I'm struggling to find anybody in any census with any confidence at the moment - I'm jumping back and forth and nothing is coming through clearly.

From IGI, William Buchanan and Catherine Anderson, show the following children:

Robert 1863
James 1864
Jessie 1866
William 1868

I was hoping to find them in 1871 to confirm Catherine's place of birth but can't see the family with any confidence as yet.

Also cannot as yet see a household for 1851 with Catherine Anderson with either James and Jessie (Janet) or mother Janet by herself.
