Found sarah butler's baptism 1823 witham to william and Ellen, Alfred Joseph on 1841 census says born in county. Baptism 9/1/1823 wormingford. Parents Joshua and Elizabeth. Joshua is a shoemaker.
Older sibling: james blunden Clarke baptised 1821. Maybe the mother's maiden name?

Hi this is where i am getting confused

Baptism 9/1/1823 wormingford. Parents Joshua and Elizabeth. Joshua is a shoemaker.

the family i am following at this time the father Joseph and Elizabeth Sargent  were farmers

sons Joseph and Alfred Joshua went on to be Bakers

is there another child of Joseph 1762 and Alice blunder 1754
i have Joseph 1786 ( married to Elizabeth Sargent)
and from a 1861  census i have added Elizabeth  1801   assuming it is referring to relationship to Elizabeth 1783

1861
new house wormingford

Elizabeth  74 wid head   Farmer and Grocer  Nayland Suffolk
Joseph s 50  son Farmer 33 acres 2 man 1 boy  stoke Suffolk
George f 28  son  bakers son               wormingford
Elizabeth Clarke   56  sister in law          stoke   Suffolk    not married so could be Josephs 1786 sister
Mary warren 19 servant                     mount bures Essex

Ok will look.
Have found the charles we were all talking about before.

Joshua the shoemaker and elizabeth have these children in wormingford:
Elizabeth 1809 (didn't find any earlier, so am assuming they marry around this time. Didn't find a marriage in wormingford.
Harriet 1811
Eliza Ann 1814
Charles William 1816
Thomas Henry 1818
James Blunden 1821
Alfred Joshua 1823
Christopher John 1830 (none in between Alfred and him at wormingford)

and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.

Four of these children's names and dates match with your 1841 census.

Apologies. Just went back through the records and found that all bar Christopher John say Joseph as the father ... But definitely a shoemaker. He may have changed profession after 1830??
Christopher John has Joshua as father but this has been written over another name, which could say Joseph. I also found george Frederick who is on the 1841 census. He was baptised in January 1828.

Yes I came across the two hadleighs too ... But mine are the southend ones, not the Suffolk ones 😉
Yes Wormington is to the north west of colchester.
So are you saying that th baptisms I have found are the right ones?
I think the shoemaker has become a farmer?
