Can anyone help me. I am researching the James and Hancock families from Summerhill and Summerhill Farm quite successfully. But I remember my father telling me about the Landlord of the Amroth Arms being his uncle. Has anyone any information of the Landlord about the 1920's.
Would welcome any information or if anyone is connected to the Hancock family present day

Hello :)
James Beynon and his wife Margaret were at the Amroth Arms for at least 30 years, late 19th and early 20th centuries. James was born Marros around 1842, and Margaret was born Kyffig ca1840.
I found them on 1901 census with an adopted daughter Elsie Allen, age 12, born Amroth

Thank you for info Morgan.
Have you any ides who could have been there in 1928 time..
I have not come across these names so far. but will research
Have you any idea how I can find who owned Summerhill Farm prior to 1928? or perhaps tell me where I can find out. I think it was possibly James or Hancock families

I have spent many a happy holiday in Amroth. Would it be worth contacting the pub to ask if they know anything about its history?
You could try an address search for the 1911 census to see who was at Summerhill Farm or electoral rolls might help too. There seem to be lots of local historians in that area writing books etc so maybe a query to the local family history group?

Hello :)
I love Amroth too :D
On 1901 census, there is a Hancock family at Summerhill.
Thomas Hancock Head age 64 Farmer born Amroth
Mary Ann Hancock Wife age 61 born Tenby
Margaret M Hancock Dau age 19 born Amroth
Sarah Johns Sister-in-law age 61 Living on own means born Tenby
Emily Susan Parsell? Cousin age 42 Living on own means born Watchett, Somerset
RG13 Piece 5118 Folio 104 Page 12
and there's a marriage of Thomas Hancock and Mary Anne Johns in 1879
Pembroke volume 11a page 934
Can see a death of Thomas Hancock age 67 in 1904 (Sep quarter) in freebmd, so worth doing an address search for the farm in 1911, as suggested by Andrea.
Kind Regards

Keith Johnson's good book "The Pubs of Narberth, Saundersfoot & South-East Pembrokeshire (Logaston Press, 2004) covers the Amroth area.
He refers to the landlord of the Amroth Arms from 1920-1932 as William James.
The Hancock family at Summerhill were involved in the founding of the Primitive Methodist cause there. Have a look at the following:

You beat me to the answer of Keith Johnson's book! There is a 1906 picture there too.
Re the ownership of Summerhill Farm - the 1911 Land Tax lists at the R.O. will show both the owners and occupiers of the property - plus acreage etc.
ps - what were your fathers+ uncles/grandparents names/dates etc?
