This is getting confusing as we have this:

Deaths Jun 1887
Verdon    Mary Ellen    44    Chesterfield    7b   390

Births June 1888
VERDON    William Henry        Chesterfield    7b   728

So Mary Ellen Verdon in those censuses cant have been William's mother. Could he have been the son of Sarah A Verdon and therefore a great grandson rather than grandson? She would have been old enough as in 1888 she was 18.

I think Sarah Ann Verdon married Samuel Mansfield in Sept quarter 1889 Chesterfield 7B 916, but I cant see them after that.

This could be her death though, and explains why William was with his
grandparents/great grandparents.

Sorry Mabel - I added to my post and didn't see you'd found the death.

Harry Vardon and two other "lads" were accused of indecently assaulting Mary Fox aged 15. The charge was dropped to common assault and they were fined 10 shillings costs each. It says they came from Barlbro. Harry was a brick dresser.

hello
Sarah Ann Whitehead marriage certificate to William Henry Vernon on 6th December 1919 it says her father Parkinson Whitehead deceased and William Henry Vernon Deceased for the Grooms father.
On William Henry Vernon's Birth certificate born 08 February 1888 there is only the mothers name as Annie Verdon so if anyone has any information as to why the fathers name is missing and any information for Annie Verdon from Spinkhill please
