Hi There

familysearch has prison records online but I can't see anything for a Winifred Burke in or around 1840

I am attaching links to one or two that may be worth a look

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KM7K-4PG

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KM7K-4YR

These are just incase Winnie / Elizabeth was working outside of Galway

This link there mentions being 6 corn mills in Loughrea at one point - maybe Patrick worked in one of them ?!

http://www.loughreaonline.com/aboutloughrea.php

There was also a brewery in the are which also would have hired millers I'm sure !

Gaffy... would it be too much to ask if you could type the names of the children....

Tara has kindly provided 5 of the 6 names, the 6th is Honora, 1831.

The surnames Burke and Ward are very common for Galway, all I was posting Faysie is that the occurrence of births/baptisms in that timeframe for "Patrick Burke" and "Mary Ward" makes the potential relevance to Winifred worth noting.

BTW, I'm not sure that the actual record content is worth paying for in this instance, you know the names and RC parish, the only additional information within the records might be the informant / sponsor details.

Sorry Gaffy - didn't mean to sound like I was doubting or correcting you - I was just trying to come up with theories as to why Winifred's name was missing from the Loughrea family !

Not at all, don't be daft, I was just clarifying my first post as a "potential lead" (for hooks and follow-up like yours) rather than something more substantial! Keep posting. :)

Nah...  ;D

There's always the chance that the pattern of forenames Patrick / Maria Ann / Catherine / Bridget #1 & #2 and Honora may provide a hook, also the parish of Loughrea, who knows?
