I hope someone can please help to find where my maternal GGG Grandfather is buried.
I am on a bit of a emotional roller coaster ride at present. I have been searching for years (along with my cousins) to find the death date and place of my maternal GGG Grandfather. I found online last night some transcribed memoirs on the Thorpe Norwich site, written by my GG Grandfather Jesse BALDWIN which I never knew existed. I am endeavoring to find out who the person was that transcribed the letter as I would say they are a direct relative of mine. In this partially transcribed letter, it states where and when his father died.
George BALDWIN was killed on Jan 5 1854 in a horrific train smash in Thetford. He was a stoker on one of the trains that collided with another. I have now read many articles about the accident in newspapers from the time along with the rather graphic detail of his death, inquest etc.
At the time of Georges death, Jesse writes his father was working Eastern Counties railway - now altered to the Great Eastern Railway. Further into the memoir he says he was living in at 12 Railway cottage Thorpe Hamlet.
Jesse writes that his father was brought home in a coffin, so I know that after the accident he was brought home to "Theoulds Buildings near Foundry Bridge, Norwich at the house next to the river in the first row"
However, my quandary is I cannot find where George BALDWIN is buried.
