Here's a hard one for you

Raymond (Last name unknown ) . Lived at 5148 West 131 Street ,Hawthorne,CA 90250.

He was in the 28th Infantry Division in World War II....... ( I think)

Can anyone tell me his last name ? and anything about him ??

There is a Raymond Emler born June 25th 1921 died April 5th 2009 ( Last Residence:
92307 Apple Valley, San Bernardino) who might be a candidate.
There was a Pennsylvania, Veteran Compensation Applications, WWII for Raymond Emler born Cedar Grove, Pennsylvania. Residence on the 14 th June 1950 was Hawthorne, California. However, the address does not quite tally with what you wanted for September 1957 -
5134 W 126 th Street Hawthorne California.
Army Service began 7-12-1942 Pittsburgh PA and discharged 26-7-1945 Ashford genral Hospital. W. Virginia.
Residence at the time of entering service Box 132 Bulger Washington PA.
Application received June 14 1956. Approved for payment June 21 1960

The US WW2 Army enlistment gives no clue to the branch he served in.

Chap above appears on FIND A GRAVE with an entry from International War Graves but no further detail as to WW2

Burial: Riverside National Cemetery Riverside Riverside County California.

Sandra a further big thank you I believe you have got the right man . I have compared photographs and it is the opinion of myself, my wife and my children that even though the photographs are about 40 to 50 years apart they are of the same man. This has been a difficult search over many years not just over the last few months with Rootschat and has far reaching implications for my family but hopefully we can now get some closure. Thank you again for taking the time to research my enquiry.

Sorry Sandra, I have seen photos of Mr Elmer and I'm afraid it's not the right man, even though the background/address etc was similar. The hope were high ...but sadly not to be.
So it's back to the search..
