Coming Home Welsh BBC Donny Osmond
« on: Saturday 27 March 10 16:42 GMT (UK) »
Hello  I just found out that Donny Osmond was featured on this show with his Merthyr Roots.  Is there any place available to watch this?  I am descended from A brother of Timothy Martin's wife  Mary Grey.  My great grandmother Rachel was born in Merthyr so would love to see this.     LizR

You'll hate me for this but I think this was the show that I saw about 2 or 3 years ago. Very enjoyable and Donny seems to be a real gent.

Not aware of it being available - I assume you've searched the BBC Wales website for Donny? Might be viewable off a link, maybe (long shot)). Beyond that you could ask the Beeb if they can run you off a copy? I did this a ew years back for a half hour show that I needed for research and they did it - but for £30!

Thank for the info.  I am not related to his Martin side but I would have loved the tour of historic Merthyr.
Timothy Martin married Mary Grey in 1795 Llangyfelach Parish.  Her Brother Evan was 4 greats grandfather.  The part thats really fun is the Martin connection is a possible explanation for why Evan's grandson John Davies moved his family to Methyr and worked for the Dowlais Iron works.  Also explains the Carriage story my Mom told me not JohnDavies but the rich cousins.
I know our Videotape systems are incompatiable but what about DVDs  Can we use them interchangeably????  I looked online and when you try to watch the programs a little box appears and says not available in your area.  Same as happen to Uk watchers trying for NBC from the States.  These companies need to think global  Again thank you for taking the time to reply.   LizR

There is a summation on the BBC Wales site.  They end  the program with the Dowlais Choir and Donny singing
Part of the program is about the cholera epidemics.  My people have some ominous gaps in the census with the kids.  I havn't tried the official Osmond site in the States.  If you find it be sure and post   LizR

I think that DVDs might well be incompatible if say, a UK DVD is placed in a US DVD player.

However, I think they might be playable in computer DVD drives regardless of whether UK or US though I've not tested this myself. Still a bit academic until you find/obtain a DVD version of the show, of course!
