Berkshire Wills - is there one for Jane Webb
« on: Sunday 20 July 14 03:53 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am hoping that someone with access to Berkshire records will be kind enough to check whether there is a will held in Berkshire for Jane Webb, and if so provide details.  This Jane should have been a widow (of Edward Webb) and it seems she died sometime between 1708 and 1755 (a large time span, but death records not yet located).

Thank you

Hi Shortcut

Did she have a son named Noah WEBB, who died before she did? Did her husband Edward WEBB have a brother named James WEBB. Could Edward have been known as John  RICHMOND?

A Jane RICHMOND otherwise WEBB, of Hungerford, Berks - widow of John RICHMOND otherwise WEBB:
Her will was drawn up on 26th Feb 1754.  In it she mentions:
Her brother, William WOODLEY (so presume this is her maiden name).
Her sister Elizabeth WIGMORE
Her niece Jane EELS wife of Joseph EELS
Her niece Dinah KNOWLES
.......and also
her son ,the late Noah WEBB
her nephews, Noah WEBB, John WEBB, James WEBB - sons, of...
her late brother in law, James WEBB

The will was proved at London, the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on the 16th December 1754. On page one of the documents she specifically asks to be buried in Hungerford as near as possible to the remains of her "late husband John Richmond otherwise Webb".

So this Testatorix died between 26th Feb and 16th Dec 1754.

Cheers

Thanks Ambly, I had seen that will but she is not that Jane Webb.  I have details of her husband's line and there is no association with Richmonds.  Also, her children had different names.

Thanks again
