Borthwick
« on: Thursday 07 August 08 18:09 BST (UK) »
I am researching the Borthwicks who lived Berwick, Eyemouth, Coldingham and surrounding area. I have found an mention in a marraige entry for a John Borthwick who was for the bridegroom.  The groom was David Borthwick and the bride Isobel Johnston and they were amrried at Coldingham Priory 9th december 1786.  I have hit a brick wall and would appreciate any help

Margaret

Hi Margaret,
I can't help you specifically with this one but I too am looking at Borthwicks (my mother's maiden name) in that approximate area.   A wee bit more northerly - Whitekirk / Dirleton in late 18th early 19th century, then to Dalkeith.
I've no doubt you are aware how common the name is on that East Coast area but you never know, we may have a link.
Feel free to have a look at my site - the Borthwicks I've positively identified as my rellies are on there.
I'll check through other stuff I have too in case there is anything that might help you.
I'm stuck on Peter born circa 1795 - have you ever come across him?

PS  Welcome to Rootschat.  It's a brilliant forum.

Hello Dave
Came across this post when searching borthwick family and have sent you an email on tribal pages
I'm interested in James borthwick circa 1862 going to Antrim
Daughter Mary Anne married James Redmond circa 1862
She came back to Barrhead, Renfrewshire with one son Alexander around 1880s
Not sure if this family are on your tree
Thanks
Karen

Hi, Sorry but I don't have time at the moment to look at this properly in any detail.  I've given you access to the site in the hope that it might help you.  I'll try and get back to you in more detail when I have more time.
