There is a place, Zennor, in Cornwall.

Have you looked on 1881 census for possibles for him (free to search)

Hi

There are 4 registrations for the birth of a William Bone at the right period, although one dies as a baby.

Births Mar 1876   BONE  William James    Tavistock  5b 378

Births Sep 1876   Bone  William     Penzance  5c 265

Births Mar 1877  BONE  William John     Penzance  5c 297

Births Jun 1877 Bone  William     Camelford  5c 12

Deaths Jun 1877  Bone  William  0  Camelford  5c 7

The 1881 census shows 3 boys of the right age which fit with the registrations.

What else do you know about William?  Do you know when he arrived in New Zealand as this might help identify the correct one.

Fewell and Speller - Essex and London

Yes that is definitely a possibility Liz.

Looks like he is married and living in Greenwich in 1901.

Will hold on this now until we get some more information  :)

Hi, I have just come across this post. I have William Bone and Lily Vincent in my family tree. I live in New Zealand. If you are still researching this connection private message me and I will give you my email address. Perhaps I can help with the NZ family if you need it?
