Doddington Church Window
« on: Friday 03 February 12 18:33 GMT (UK) »
Hello.
Does anyone live near to Doddington Church? My ancestor  Richard Ridge was Rector there during 1930's, He died there (the Isle of Ely) in 1949 but is buried in Hyssington Church yard Shropshire, near where his family lived . He has a William Morris window dedicated to him in Doddington Church and I wondered if anyone had a photo of this or any info on his time there?
Many Thanks
Jan

If you  are interested in further info on Richard Ridge you should be able to find it in Crockfords Clerical Directory.

Jan, Crockfords usually gives a summary of the cleryman's career...education, parishes in which he's been vicar, name of wife and so on.
If you know the year od death of the man, sometimes the volume after that year will give an obit which adds more info.

Charlotte,
Thanks for that. I did have a quick look on the internet and couldn't find anything, so it looks as though the best way will be for me to buy a copy of the directory somewhere.  I'm not sure if I have to have specific years or not? I do know he was born in 1868 and died in 1949. I also believe he worked in London and Cambridgeshire amongst other places.
Best Wishes Jan

Jan, no need to buy a copy.  To do that anyway you'd need to know which years you wanted as it's published every two{?} years .

A large library, sucg as a good university library, should hold copies and if you are near an Anglican Cathedral or theological College they may well hold the series.

I have a vague memory of someone saying it is on the net... that needs careful checking as it's obviously the easy way for you.
