I'm not sure if there is an order to the burials. I haven't investigated the cemetery too much as I haven't any relatives buried there.  I'm a bit busy this week but if I get chance I will try and have a look to see if there is any sort of order. It is a big area, but nicely landscaped.  There used to be a lot of Silk mills in Leek where the silk thread was dyed. It sounds as if James worked in one of the mills.

I have had a bit more of a look in that file and I do not think I am going to find anything up at the Cemetery.

It looks like James, and his wife Mary were buried in Pauper's Graves. The reason I say this is that there is 3 other unrelated people in Grave 1541 and 4 other unrelated people in Grave 2734, where Mary is buried. It also appears to be the same as one of their daughters Ann Matthews (Nee Mottershead).

I think I will need to go somewhere to start looking for the marriage and potentially the births.

Yes, I can see the other names on the burial database.  If it was a pauper's grave, there probably wouldn't be a headstone  :(

Over the last 6months I have made some progress with thanks to a 2nd Cousin.

After some investigation into Mottersheads, in leek, during the 18th and early 19th century,  we believe we have identified family groups and a tree structure,  through baptisms, marriages and burial records

The only thing we are missing are the actual burial places,  and any monumental Inscriptions. We were hoping that this could provide evidence of these groups.

I have a DVD from St Edwards and there are no records of them in the Churchyard and they are too early to be buried in Leek Cemetery.  So where else in Leek could they be buried?

Is it possible that were not registered at St Edwards,  because they paupers?

There are some burial records for St Luke's in Leek.  They start in 1849

I have been through the Parish Registers, and I am actually looking for their Graves

I also have the burial records from the church and there are no Mottershead graves there, so I am not sure where they would have been buried.
