John Newton & Sarah marriage help please
« on: Saturday 02 August 14 17:24 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am currently stuck on a marriage for one of my ancestors and was hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction.
On of my ancestors was Martha Newton who was born in Chart Sutton in Kent in 1765. Her parents are listed as John Newton and Sarah. I did find a couple of other baptisms for children to a couple named John and Sarah but one was in Milton next sittingbourne in 1769 and the other in Hucking in 1772 so i'm not sure if these are related.
I have a feeling that John may die before 1790 because there is a Sarah Newton who is a widow marrying Moses Hopper in Chart Sutton in 1790.
I am trying to trace the marriage of John Newton and Sarah but i am struggling finding a link to the right couple.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thankyou
Rich

The Mid Kent Marriages Index includes marriages from 1754 but I can't see a marriage for John & Sarah NEWTON.

So it looks likely that John and Sarah married before this or married in one of the parishes not covered by the index.

I can't see any matching marriage in Kent on Familysearch either  ???

This could be one of those brickwalls that take a fair bit of work to knock down. It could be a needle in a haystack kind of search.
