Dont mean to confuse the matter but I have some info on the Blunden family from 'Castle Blunden' In Kilkenny, who also had various address's in Dublin in the early to mid 19th century.

Hi Dathai

That Trevor Blunden - Ellen Monks marriage looks good! There is the question of why her son would be with an Uncle & Aunt and not his Mother, but I suppose that could be because of her position/employment/

Thanks very much for your help.

Regards

Ian

It can be for a variety of reasons as you say employment of parents, parents having medical / alcohol problems so child reared elsewhere, depression, too many children, original parents incapabable, poverty or possibly because Uncle is in a job where he guarantee someone else in household be taken on.

Also could be that while child is registered as the child of his/her mothers and husband, it may not be husbands. Sending to live elsewher was often a way of avoiding day to day reminder of rape or something ele that had occurred.

I have found this with relatives where child reared elsewhere and in 1 case that was in living memory it was because they were childless and were able to assist family.
