Evidence for Wednesbury and West Bromwich being in Warwickshire
« on: Tuesday 01 July 14 16:38 BST (UK) »
Hi Sarah
Where to I find the evidence that the above were in Warwickshire please?
I've tried the search options, but it's quite a complicated question.
Regards
Dave
PS this would really open up a whole new outlook for me, as I've always filtered searches for Wednesbury in Staffordshire.

As far as I'm aware they have only been in Staffordshire, not Warwickshire.

Good morning
I know Freebmd includes West Bromwich in searches if you tick for Warwickshire.I think this is because Handsworth although in Staffordshire is included in the registration district of West Bromwich and is latter incorporated into the city of Birmingham which is of course in Warwickshire and it wants all the results for Handsworth to come up.

Hi Ciderdrinker
That's fascinating, I'd never have worked that out!
Now I'll include Warwickshire in my searches, especially for Wednesbury in the 18th century which is where I'm looking for my ancestors.
