Hi there.  I've just recently joined this site because a google search brought me to L23's related post on Margaret Grigor.  Margaret & Robert Cramond are great-grandparents of mine.  Would love to know more.

My grandfather was from the Burghead area. Donald Grigor (although he went by other names). His mother was Mary Sutherland.

Hi there, yes we are the same family, my mum was your dads sister, he was called dennis by the family. Which family member are you as i am in touch with some of them.

 Dennis/Donald's youngest daughter, is my mother. I have lived over in Canada since 2002, and am getting married in October so I'm trying to work out my complex family history, hehe.

my daughter emigrated to canada a year ago, she is in abbotsford, vancouver, bc she is a midwife, they are hoping to move nearer to vancouver next year.

Hello, I am from Toronto, Ontari Canada - I know that my great grandparents were John Grigor who married Margaret Davidson in the county of Aberdeen.

I belive they went on to have 6 children, Ian, John, Margaret, James (my grandfather) Isabella and Mary Ann. I believe all remained in the Elgin and some moved to Inverness. My grandfather came to Canada in 1912.

Wondering if there is any connection?

have done some futher research to confirm and Moira believe that my grandfather and your granfather would be brothers. My grandfather, from what I can gather was a constable in El gin for a couple of years before join the Canadian Army - he married and they had only one son my Father - Donald James Grigor who is deceased. I can remember my grandmother telling me that my grandfathers family was in Elgin and Inverness and I may have pictures.

Would love to find out more. My recent research has stemmed from my daughter completing a history project.

Hi Dawn, yes we are the same family, Margaret Davidson was born in New Deer Aberdeen and John was from Burghead, Morayshire. They were both my mums grandparents & my great grandparents. I have a photo of Margaret with two of my mams cousins. John their son was my mums father & my grandfather. My mums name was Mary Ann Davidson Grigor she died in 2004 aged 90yrs. I have completed my family tree so if there is anything you would like to know feel free to ask. My partner and i are coming over to Canada in  May to visit my daughter who lives near Vancouver.
I remember my mum telling me about her uncle being a policeman and going to live in Canada.
