Ambrose Clea of Cleobury Mortimer
« on: Friday 04 July 14 16:21 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am currently researching my Clee ancestors. The earliest I have gotten back is Ambrose Clea, born around 1610, a tanner and husband of Joyse of Cleobury Mortimer.

Would anyone be able to find any siblings of Ambrose and possible parents? I doubt I will be able to go back further, but any attempts would be appreciated

thanks

you have done very well to get that far back. you are getting to the stage where the parish records are running out.

I can see the  marriage between ambrose and joyce hewes in 1630. do you have all their children?

Hi there

This site http://www.melocki.org.uk/salop/CleoburyMortimer.html shows the earliest register goes back to 1601 - in various states of decay! Nothing for Ambrose or Joyse's baptisms but I suspect records weren't that well maintained at that time. The first record of a Clee / Clea is Ambrose & Joyse's marriage.

There is a Humfrey Hewes son of John bap 25 Mar 1603 so possible sibling for Joyse
