Humphreys's of Shropshire
« on: Wednesday 12 November 14 15:40 GMT (UK) »
Unbeknown to me, who always thought we came from Yorkshire, dont know why. It seems we,(or rather my line), came from around the Newport region of Shrops and down to Plymouth, then finally  Portsmouth via Panteg in Wales.
If anyone else has done any digging around on my lot, drop me a line.
Start  James Humphreys m Dorothy penson 1798. They have , Kids Joseph/Sarah/William/Elizabeth/Charles (my GGGD)/Mary/Francis(fanny)/James. Charles becomes a copper travels to Panteg near Pontypool and marries  a local girl Hannah Williams. Kids, Thomas (my GGD)/Martha/Frances/John/Charles/Mary/Arthur/William/Lewis/Alfred. All Born in Panteg.
Thomas is now in the army, the RA I believe and he marries Margaret Francis and they have Walter and Percy born in SA, Phillip/Harold (my GD)/Maggie/Fanny? (Frances). Phillip born in Newport wales and the rest Plymouth, b4 the all went back to Panteg.

If you added a few more dates for the middle members of your family, and spaced out the information, it might make it slightly easier for people to access.  (Particularly as they are not just from Shropshire as your title suggests).

Have you looked to see if they are in any trees on ancestry, and made contact with any tree holders?

They didnt marry 1798 going by 1851 Census;

Dorothy HUMPHREYS, born c 1797 Longford, Shropshire, is with her Neice Mary Person (Penson), age 6 in Chetwynd Aston, Shropshire.

1841, image is Humphreys;
HO107/905/4/Edgmond
Dorthy Hample    43, Charwoman
Charles Hample    11
Mary Hample    8
Fanny Hample    6
James Hample    4

Either James is away from Home or she is Widowed by 1841. 1851 her status is hard to make out. But as she is a Charwoman on both Census I think it is likely she was Widowed pre 1841.

Therefore it is unknown where James H was born.

Dorothy PENSON was Christened 1798 Longford to ANDREW/MARY (Familysearch.Org)

1841 in Longford we have;
Andrew Pinson    69
Mary Pinson    68
Caoohire Pinson    17
Rebecca Peerson 7
James Penson, 27, Labourer

According to various online trees, James was born 1798 in Longford or Leominster and died 1854 in Pennsylvannia - I think a pinch of salt might be required.

The 1851 for Dorothy is very unclear - as Trish has said - it looks as if 'Head' is wriiten in both columns.
