Mary Sarah Keating
« on: Saturday 23 August 14 12:12 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find birth details for Mary Sarah Keating. The known details that I have are from her marriage in 1907 to Thomas Anderson Evans in Barrow in Furness in Lancashire. The maariage cert gives her age as 21 and her fathers name as James. (Deceased Solicitors Clerk). In the 1911 England Census she is living in Saddleworth in Yorkshire with two children. Her place of birth is given there as Dublin. Searches for Mary Sarah Keating in Irish records draw a blank except for the 1901 Census. This shows a Mary Sarah Keating aged 14, living at Monckton Row with her grandmother Margaret aged 82. There her birthplace is given as Co. Wicklow. Searches for Mary Sarah, Sarah Mary, produce no results in birth or baptism records. Searches for Mary Keating produce so many results that could be her that it is a daunting task. Any ides of where to go from here would be welcome. I have tried Roots Ireland and ANcestry UK.

Have you tried place of marriage in 1907 to see if you can get her mothers name, then we could look for a marriage for her parents.

Hello and welcome,

What was the address on her marriage certificate? Are the witness names any help?

Dathai,

Would Wicklow town be  Rathdrum registration district?

Grandmother Margaret was 82 in 1901. There is a death in 1909 aged 83 yrs, Rathdrum. However even that is her, there may not be much information as Mary Sarah was in Saddleworth by then. :-\

I dont know which one covers Wicklow town.
A recent death this year from Moncton Row was buried in Rathnew cemetery.

Looking at a registration district map, Wicklow town would seem to be Rathdrum district.

The wedding took place in Barrow in Furness registration office. The mothers name is not recorded. I now know her father was born 1865 in Wicklow. His fathers name was Hugh Keating, and his mothers name was Margaret Kearns. I cannot find James Keating's marriage so far.
