Oh no a Smith in my tree !
« on: Friday 03 October 14 09:51 BST (UK) »
Ellen Brewer Smith marries James Mant in 1855 , her birth year from Census is c 1833 , her father on
marriage certificate is Richard Smith , is is likely that Brewer is her mothers maiden name ?

Any input would be welcome

Thank you

It's possible but could also be a family name from further back so unless you can find the marriage of her parents...

Have you found her in 1841 or 1851 with mother and father?

Family tree gives her a brother Solomon baptised Weybridge Surrey 1824 to Richard and Sarah Elizabeth Smith.

Ellen baptism is a little later then you have 1837 but born 1836.  Also Weybridge does that sound right area?  On hers Sarah is just Sarah so  :-\

If I have the right Ellen Mant she is with mother Sarah E Smith in a later census but not found her prior yet.

Possible 1841 Chertsey Surrey

Sarah Smith 50 *
Solomon 17
James 14
Mary 10
Ellen 6
Richard 50 not born in county the rest are

* Sarah E Smith was 70 on the 1861 with daughter Ellen and family so the age fits.

Thank you for reply my only guess at her age is from 1891 census and her age is 58 I am just going over my paperwork to see if I have her age anywhere else.

Weybridge is definitely in the right area .

Unfortunately I only have a poor copy from my time at the local history centre and stupidly didn't note names. One witness is Sarah Mant the other I cannot decipher if  anyone can help I would be grateful.

A lesson learnt by me make sure you can read all the info before printing !
