Help trying to identify participation in WW1-Wiliam Rundle
« on: Saturday 22 November 14 21:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi there

I wonder if anyone can help me. This is the only picture my Nan had of her Dad. He was called William rundle and born c 1884  in plymouth, Devon, UK and died 1941. I want to try and find out more about him as he is a bit of a mystery.  Can anyone identify what uniform/regiment he belonged to during the war and perhaps assist in locating any military records relating to him-- as I have drawn a blank. In particular I want to try and locate the maiden name of his wife selina and her DOB as I'm struggling with his birth certificate and his brother-walter the maiden name is unclear- looks like tamlin!

Any help would be welcome.

Regards
Andrew

Hi there

Yes its a possibility-although date is a little late and surname is different. I am hoping that if I could trace the son william's service record that that might at least shed some further light and on his parents. At the moment I don't know if the uniform is army but would appear so but also his rank and regiment.

Best regards
Andrew

Hi Andrew

Seems strange that he should marry another Selina.

Can we have a better scan of the cap badge? The forum maximum is 500 kb for an attachment- yours is 5!

Hi

The marriage for william o rundle in 1922 isn't him-- so ignore that. The william in the picture remained married to an omiah ayres.

I will have to try and find the copy photo i have as it was already sent to me as a copy from a long lost relative in Scotland so it might be the best resolution . I will upload when i can as I think it has him sitting with 2 other gentlemen.

Cheers
Andrew
