Phelan family
« on: Saturday 25 October 14 21:44 BST (UK) »
Trying to find family of William Phelan born 1889 in Kilkenny Ireland, his first wife's name was Maggie. William served during WW1 as an engineer with the British Army. They possibly lived in the Glasgow area. William also served in WW11 probably in the Home Guard. They had two children: Jenny and Thomas. Thomas served in WW11 but don't know where. William's second wife was Lena Wild (married in Yorkshire in 1952) William was working there on the railway. After the death of Lena, William moved back to Scotland. Any help would be appreciated

Trying to find family of William Phelan of Glasgow. William was born in Kilkenny Ireland in 1889. William and his wife Maggie lived in Glasgow and he served in both world wars, as an engineer in the first. They had two children Jenny and Thomas. Thomas also served in WW2 but don't know where. William moved to Yorkshire to work on the railway possible after the death of Maggie. He married Lena Wild in 1952 but moved back to Scotland following Lena's death to live with his daughter. Would be grateful for any information

Many thanks for the replies. It seems like I'm on the right track at last. Does anyone know if it's possible to find William's war records? As he was living in Scotland I would presume that he joined a regiment there but I'm finding it difficult to trace any records for him, including marriage to Maggie. He possibly died in the 1970's but again I can't find anything

You can check the 1914 marriage on Scotlandspeople which will confirm his parents names.
