Whilst browsing around St Chad`s churchyard in Lichfield (as you do) i came across the headstone of Harriet H Paine.This aroused my curiosity and i have taken a photo as it may help someone both here and in the USA.
Details of the Headstone are
Harriet H Paine of Massachusetts USA
The beloved Mother of Mrs George Fox
who died at Elmhurst Hall
Feb 16 1890
in the 74 th year of her age
I have had a look at the 1881 census for Curborough & Elmhurst and the Daughter that she refers to is Ella P Paine b 1846 Massachusetts USA. She Married George Fox b1818 Kent,He had a Farm of 800 acres and was a "justice of the Peace.
I am not sure if the Hall is still there but will have a look if anyone is interested.
