Patterson/Weir/McIntire

Hi, I am new to this board and am seeking any information regarding Patterson's and Weirs
in the long ago records, i.e, Archibald Patterson b. Colerain ca. 1740/50 and his wife, Anna
Weir b. also in Colerain about the same time as Archibald.  I believe they had at least two
children when they immigrated to Pennsylvania abt. 1773.  Anna had a brother Robert Weir
who was b. 1752.  Supposedly he was in Edinburgh college when he left for America due to
"religious" differences.

Would love any information or suggestions regarding the above.

Some weir families over time the name has changed to other variations such as
Ware,Wheare,were,Where,Whear etc my mothers mums side were originally weir but we spell it Wheare today some spell it Ware.

My mob come from the uk. We are connected to Fenwicks we have Derbyshire&Cornwell connections.

I'm trying to research Patterson that have a german connection (prob not original name came to Australia) but recently found that we are supposed to be related also to Aussie Cyclist Sid Patterson (has uk connection) I'm still yet to find where he fits in.

Rumour has it in my hubbys family that they have Weir-Schmidts coonected to their Patterson clan too oh what s mix.

In Ulster the spelling is usually Weir.

I had been told by my cousin who works for a Australian genealogical society that most that spell their names other than weir all originated from weir anyways and I'm told my ancestors were originally weir.Ive only gone back a little as I'm concentrating on another tree atm but I know one of my cousins has done extensive research.

You've posted on a topic on Derry/Londonderry board which has no connection to England. The Weirs in Ulster mentioned here are most likely Ulster Scots and extremely unlikely to have any English connection.

okay, Sorry i was just referring to the actual name in general not its origin or the origin of this persons' "Weir" family. My Wheare family but which was originally Weir come from England but we do have Scottish Connections via other families.
