Charles Milton Frederick Fowler 1887
« on: Sunday 26 October 14 13:39 GMT (UK) »
Wonder if anyone out there can break down our family brick wall.

Despite years of looking, myself and my cousins are struggling with this man.

He was born 7 April 1887 to George Fowler and his 2nd wife Mary Ann Young.

Our last records of him are in 1920 - firstly his marriage on 10 June 1920 to Emily Elizabeth Cambridge and then later in the year on the birth of their son Charles Fowler.  So please there is no need to post marriage or birth records, we have them, thankyou.

On his marriage we know that his mother Mary Ann Goodchild (she remarried after death of father George) was one of the witnesses.

After 1920 this man disappears off the face of the earth.

Any help or hints would be much appreciated.

Hello

Can you post Emily's details (birth and death years, places etc) as she might give us a link into him?

Is it just Charles M F who vanishes - or his wife and son as well?

What was Charles M F's occ on his marriage cert?

Presumably Emily had been previously married as she is shown as Unwin on the marriage entry - not Cambridge - although the 1920 birth reg shows her maiden name as Cambridge

Was Emily this freebmd entry?  I realise you probably have it but details aren't in your post and it means we can use it for death reg purposes

Births March qtr 1890
Emily Elizabeth  Cambridge Fulham  1a   290

Also for info - the marriage and the birth were registered in Wandsworth

Her first husband - Robert Henry Unwin died in WW1 and he was in the RN - was Charles also a naval man?

If that's the correct Emily that Carole posted, Emily died in the December quarter of 1920, also Wandsworth, so shortly after the son's birth.

Wonder if Charles took off somewhere after Emily died?

The son Charles G Fowler was registered September quarter 1920 and there is a possible death in Thanet in 1986 giving a birth date of 12 July 1920 which could fit

After 1920 this man disappears off the face of the earth.

In 1923 he is still at 70 Gwynne Road, Battersea (electoral roll).

Posts on other forums claim he was at one time a Stoker in the RN. So does his service record help at all?

As a former seaman, he could be just about anywhere, and hard to identify if he was not using any middle names  :(
