Hoping someone could provide information on the death of James Samuel Adams, death occurred QSept 1862 Bermondsey 1d 55.  Grateful for your assistance. --Ella

I would say that it's a pretty good bet that he was the one born in 1834,and who married Elizabeth Ann Farrow in July 1862.

As she remarried Alfred Wilson the following year on 15 Nov 1863.

Not sure if anyone has access to Bermondsey parish records here or not?

The only source of information about the cause of his death will be gleaned from his actual death certificate which you will have to buy. Depending on how he died and where the death certificate could lead onto other records such as inquests, newspapers, workhouse or hospital records. A death in the central London area in 1862 is unlikely to occur in parish registers since nearly all churchyards were shut by the middle of the 1850s with only very few burials allowed in for example existing family vaults. The remaing burials from this period onwards have occurred in cemeteries. Bermondsey is in the London borough of Southwark so as a starting point you would need to contact Southwark cemetery office. To request a search for a burial in Southwark cemeteries you will really need an exact date and place of death otherwise the charge for searching the registers can be expensive. That information takes you back to acquiring a copy of the death certificate.

I have found two death records for James Samuel Adams familysearch.org death registration index:
- Apr/May/Jun 1862 London City, London 1C 78 line 37 and
-July/Aug/Sep 1862 Bermondsey, 1D 55 line 14

Would anyone be able to look this up? Hoping to narrow it to one before requesting certificate.

If I was going to guess it would have to be the Bermondsey one.

Ages were not shown before the end of the 1860's,so you won't know anything more about either of them until you get the cert,unless a burial can be found.
