Solsgirth House.
« on: Tuesday 13 October 09 15:47 BST (UK) »

Does anyone know the history, or better yet, have photographs, of Solsgirth
PRIOR to 1960.   I was there, once, in the late 50's when it belonged to Walter Alexander (Bus company owner).  Before that, I think it was the property of Robert Sutherland, director of James Ross Ltd., Tar Distillers, of Camelon Falkirk.  My memory of it does not match the current photographs of Solsgirth House Hotel.  Could they have added a large extension to the right of the front entrance or is my memory getting REALLY bad!!

Any information and assistance would be most welcome.

I used to pass Solsgirth House in the '50's when visiting relatives who lived and worked in the home farm.  My uncle worked the farm and my aunt in Solsgirth House.   It was, as I recollect, then owned by Walter Alexander who owned the Bluebird Bus Company.  The current photo on the web by the present owners looks just as I remember it.

Hi Maddymoss.

Thanks very much for the update.  My memory is obviously not what it was, but then it was a long time ago ( about 1959 / 60) and I have not been there since.
