Hi

I don't have a birth/baptism but I think that this might be his death as the address and occupation fits the 1841 and 1851 census entries:

Death - St Quivox and Newton, Ayrshire
15 June 1857 at Whitletts (?)

Stewart Strachan, coal miner,  married, aged 61.
Parents - Alexander Strachan, coal miner and Martha, m.s, McCall. Both deceased.
Cause - Burned in a Coal mine.
Burial Ground - St Quivox
Informant - Alexander Strachan, son

A nasty way to die - I have some nasty deaths among my coal miner ancestors

The family seems to have moved to Ayrshire quite early on.

Have you got these  children of Alxander Strachan and Martha McCall - IGI

1800 Monkton - Sarah
1805 Martha
1811 Janet
1816 Margaret
1819 Ann
all but Sarah baptized St Quivox

I think that Stewart is a brother to our John Strachan...b1801 and also a coal miner married to Martha Young. Judy (Australia)
