Kirkcudbrightshire photos on flickr
« on: Friday 10 February 12 21:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

We have quite a number of photos from the South of Scotland. Some are old family photos, some postcards and some photos of old cottages we've found on our travels. We have been uploading them to flickr. There are quite a number form Kirkcudbrightshire and I hope to be able to add more as time goes on.

The idea is that you can see where your ancestors used to live and if you like add information in your comments. For example who knows anything about John Houston, a  Weather Prophet: http://bit.ly/waS2yA

The Kirkcudbright collection can be found here: http://bit.ly/wA1AjA

Hope you find them interesting.

Emma

Super old photos of Parton Village my husband's Hutton ancestors lived here, William Hutton was a Mineral Agent they later moved to Leith, Edinburgh.  His wife Agnes Rae is buried in the churchyard at Parton and William is also named on the gravestone.

Robert "Deacon" and Elizabeth Marshall lived here. All there kids were born here. Robert and wife with only 3 son's immigrated on the Lovely Nellie/Nelly in the 2nd wave of settlers in 1774 to PEI, then into Nova Scotia. They buried three kids there before they traveled. It must of ripped their heart's out to leave them there. They had one more son in Nova Scotia and she died soon after that. Thanks for posting them.Barbara
