James Thomson Kirkcudbright 1861/71
« on: Tuesday 02 October 12 14:15 BST (UK) »
Hi All
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this;
James Thomson and Grace McConnell were the parents of Mary Smith Thomson born 1831 who married  a distant relative David Carmont in 1861 in Liverpool.
I have James and Grace and children on the 1841 and 1851 census and was hoping to find them on the 1861/71
James was 54 and a Hairdresser and Grace was 50, both born Kirkcudbright
Kind Regards
beannie

Hi,

Just checked the 1861 census for Kirkcudbright and they are both in it, shows James as a hairdresser aged 58 and Grace aged 59 years.
Scotlands People show Grace's death in 1869 in Kirkcudbright aged 70 years, this is definitely Grace as it shows her also as McConnell. There is a death for a James Thomson in 1870 in Kirkcudbright aged 65 years, I assume that this will be James.

Hi Matt,
Thank you so much for these, you are a star!!

William and Grace's daughter Mary born 1831 married a distant relative of mine David Carmont  in Liverpool in 1861, I have them on the 1871 and 1881 and after that they and their family disappeared.
I found Mary's birth and was just checking on her family to see what happened to them, so thank you again for this.
I must make a trip to Liverpool, I have a long list of things to find.
Kind Regards
