A search of JewishGen for Sussov, Austria brings up Sichauf, which appears to be in south-east Austria.

Sichauf - Steiermark (Styria)
« Reply #11 on: Friday 17 April 09 16:15 BST (UK) »
now, the word Sichauf make it easy for me  ;D this is in the austrian Bundesland (state) Steiermark
(Styria) and district Feldbach. it belonges to St.Anna am Aigen.
"Zur Gemeinde Sankt Anna am Aigen gehören die Ortschaften Aigen, Jamm, Klapping, Plesch, Risola, Sichauf und Waltra."
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sankt_Anna_am_Aigen
you find it about www.google.com - maps

the parish-office has no e-mail-adress: http://www.dekanat.at/dekanat/feldbach/st.anna/index.php
but you can ask at the roman.cath.discese-archive in styrian capital Graz. they are very friendly there. think some padres doing work there  :) e-mail-adress right above. they have the Matriken (old church-book-entries) microfilmed there. so if there are birth-dates known you can write them.

i´m not sure if Sichauf really means "Sussov", but an e-mail to the discese-archive with names and birth-dates will show if to find some about this ancestors. specially as this is more a "hamlet" and think not so many people lived there in old times.

just had the idea to look on this website, where you can search places in the old austrian-hungarian empire: www.ihff.at
i did it at the german version at "Ortsverzeichnisse > weiter > wrote Sussov and was surprised because found this  ;) :
LfdNr.   Früherer Ortsname   Heutiger Ortsname   Zuständige Pfarre(n)   Kronland
64253       Susov                 Hnojnik                                                    Schlesien
former placename    todays placename in CZ       parish                  crownlandSilesia

now think this sounds good and the name is more then similar.
you may look for the english version of Wikipedia: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hnojn%C3%ADk

map of historical Silesia (outlined) and modern national boundaries :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Silesia_(Now).png
Schlesien -Silesia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silesia

the old austrian-hungarian empire:
http://translate.google.com/translate?client=tmpg&hl=de&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.deutsche-schutzgebiete.de%2Fkuk_oesterreich-ungarn.htm&langpair=de|en
take > Duchy of Silesia

do you know the background of this ancestors. was it german, polish, or czech?
to which of this groups belonges the familyname?

it´s right, that this part of Susov in Silesia was austrian and they also then were austrian BUT this does not show the mother-tongue and so the possibilities for german, polish, czech and so on.
in the austrian-hungarian empire many people lived with many different languages. specially Silesia had some border-changes and so it would be interesting which background the family had and if their familyname was a german or a polish and so on.
