I wonder whether we could help you trace this also from another angle.

If Bonnie and Eric are known to be first cousins of your grandmother, can you tell us the name of the linked person in your grandmother's family?  Was her father or mother a sibling of "Willie" or "Dolly"?  By tracing full names for these people, and possibly a marriage for Willie & Dolly, the other details may start to fall into place.

(Just by way of an example, Willie and/or Dolly may have left wills with their sons as executors, whose names would therefore be ascertainable).

My grandmother Eva Townrow who was born in Ireland, her parents were John Henry and Rebecca Carter (b. Feb 1871 Suffolk, m. India 1891). Rebecca was brother to Willie (father of Bonnie and Eric) - however it is believed Willie was also born abroad due to his father Henry being in the Army.

Henry himself is quite peculiar - he was born Henry Moyes but (what we believe) due to a family dispute changed his name to Carter. My father also informs me that Bonnie worked on the oil fields in Persia.
Name Interests: Holland, Marshall, Townrow, Taylor.

Just trying to piece together the Carter family so as to see where their son Willie fits in.

1862: Marriage of Henry CARTER (full age, son of James Carter) to Mary Ann SWINGLER (16, dau of Richard Milward Swingler) - 15 January, Pallavaram, India
1863: Baptism of Isabella CARTER (b 18 Jul 1863), Fort William, Calcutta, to Henry & Mary Ann
1867: Baptism of Robert CARTER (b 3 Jun 1867), St Mark, Bangalore to Henry & Mary Ann
1869: Baptism of Richard Millard CARTER at Haughley, Suffolk to Henry & Mary Ann: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V5KJ-F2Q (Birth reg as Richard Millard MOYES, Dec qtr 1869 Stow)
1871: Birth of Rebecca CARTER, Haughley, Suffolk, to Henry & Mary Ann
1871: Family appears in census in Haughley under surname MOYE: RG10/1733/59/12.  Henry b abt 1828 Harlestone Suffolk;  Mary b abt 1846 East Indies.

Henry was already a Chelsea Pensioner Private by 1871 (aged 43) so there's no particular reason to expect he served overseas again (though not impossible I suppose).

This information is great but no mention of Willie/William Carter. I know my gt grandmother Rebecca was born in Suffolk and married in India but where was her brother?

If you read reply 14 you will see that avm228 has given you a suggestion about Willie. Do you think that might be him?
