Hi Jane

I'll give you all that I found even though you have some of it

Billingshurst Redman baptisms
29 Jun 1760 Thomas s/o Daniel and Sarah
30 Apr 1762 Jane d/o Daniel and Sarah
12 Aug 1764 Luke s/o Daniel and Sarah
26 Oct 1766 John s/o Daniel (burials 21 Oct 1766 Sarah w/o Daniel and  25 Dec 1766 John Redman infant  :'( )
28 Oct 1768 Edward s/o Daniel and Nan
11 Aug 1771 James s/o Daniel and Nan
17 Apr 1774 Hannah d/o Daniel and Nan
1 Jan 1777 Lucy d/o Daniel and Nan
10 Aug 1778 Harry s/o Daniel and Ann
17 Feb 1780 Sarah d/o Daniel and Ann
31 Jul 1785 Mary d/o Daniel and Ann
13 Apr 1788 David s/o Daniel and Ann

There are no Redman baptisms before 1760 supporting the idea that Daniel was born outside the parish

No Ann or Daniel burials in Billingshurst

There is this possible in Pulborough
27 Jul 1799 Ann Redman Wid
but no sign of Daniel.

Also Pulborough burials
10 Oct 1743 Margaret Redman w/o Edward
2 Aug 1750 William Redman s/o Edward
6 Aug 1750 Mary Redman w/o Edward
17 Sep 1786 Edward Redman

So it looks as if there could be a second marriage for Daniel's likely father Edward to a Mary ??

Pulborough Redman baptisms
22 Jan 1734 Daniel s/o Edward
30 Mar 1736 Jane  d/o Edward
6 Nov 1738 Thomas s/o Edward
6 Dec 1747 Mary d/o Edward

I couldn't find a baptism for the William who died in 1750 - I suspect Mary died giving birth to him.

The marriage of Daniel  to Sarah has a Thomas Redman as witness - brother?

Hope this is all of some help
Jan ;)

That looks very likely. Do the registers sometimes have more than the SMI?

That's a good question Jan.  I've always thought that if the information is available then it appears on the SMI...but I may be wrong  :-\

Jan and Suey,

Many apologies, I thought this thread was finished.  I wasn't  meaning to ignore you.  I didn't get any mail to say there were any more replies!!!  At least I don't think I did.  Thanks to you both.
I also  think Edward re-married Mary Older.

I did join the SFHG and it was some help.  Have been neglecting Redman's lately and branched out to Dad's Mum(Jupp)  and Mum's Dad (Moore from Ireland).

Once again sorry guys.  I am a very part time researcher and tend to go in fits and starts.

No worries, Jane. I hope the information helps when you return to your Redman research.

From the Sussex family History Group, The Sussex Marriage Index. The marriage states that Edward is of Horsham and Hannah Brockhurst is of the parish.
