Question regarding Civil Registration Death Index
« on: Sunday 10 February 13 13:05 GMT (UK) »
I have searched the Civil Registration Index for deaths on a couple of online sources (FamilySearch and Ancestry).  Included in the search results is a field entitled "mother's maiden name" but in all of the records I have looked at this field is always empty.  Do the actual records generally contain this information?  The time frame I am interested in is the early twentieth century.

Thank you,
Phil

That caption on the online BMD Index is only relevant to births (not deaths) after the late 1920s. Death certs dont include a parents name - except sometimes as informant in the case of the death of a child.
