Beauvant/Bovault in Colyton around 1900
« on: Friday 18 April 14 12:50 BST (UK) »
I am looking for family Christian and Mary Beauvant/Bovault.

They were in front of Penrith Police court regarding a fence dispute, recoded in the Nepean Times - 13 May 1899.

Within this news article recounting the court case, Mary Bovault is married to Christian Bovault, a poultry farmer and she lists William Robinson (my ancestor) as her brother in law. She also lists that she came from America 43 years prior (1856).

According to NSW BDM (record ordered) Mary died in 1901 in St Mary NSW.

I was wondering if anyone else has any information on this family or surname

Thanks

What was the maiden name of your William Robinson's wife?

Thanks Leanne, that surname combination was not one that I tried, perhaps Christian and Ann did not know how to spell it themselves.

Mary's maiden name was McLaughlan. I had assumed William Robinson and wife Isabella were the only ones to come to Australia from Londonderry in 1841.

According to the above mentioned court case were Ann Beauvant claims to be his sitter in law. I also found a reference to William Robinson's wife AND his mother being buried in St Mary Cemetery - so perhaps more of the family than I though came over to Australia at a later date

Hi, I have been working on my family tree for some time. Still go a few dates to sort out including who was Jacob Hancock parents were, born in 1730! West Haddon who married Rebecca Garnett in 1760 & died in 1770 West Haddon.
You did post asking about Elizabeth Hancock's death (nee Rodwell) b1805 married William Hancock 26/01/1829 in Leicester , St. Margaret's. William b1805 son of a William Hancock & (nee Sarah Roddis). I have found on free reg site the death / burial of Elizabeth Hancock on 5/7/1881 & buried in West Haddon age 76 which links in with her birth year.
William & Elizabeth had children Sarah Ann; Mary; Maria; Rebecca; Henry; Elizabeth; John; William ( who I think died in the Bush in Australia between 1871-1884/ born west haddon1847) ; George who is my Great Grandfather.
Hope this may help you & if you have any details of the Hancock's West Haddon, Kimcote  & Glapthorn in Northamptionshire it may help me fill in gaps back to Jacob & before. robertnbb@virginmedia.com
