Did my Bristol ancesters move abroad pre 1841?
« on: Tuesday 21 October 14 09:10 BST (UK) »
Hi all you helpful people, I am stuck tracing what happened to my 5x great grandparents john marshman and sarah marshman nee murch after the baptism of my 4x great grandfather john marshman who was baptised 20 march 1809 at st james Bristol.

My fourth great g-dad married ann welsford in 1829 and died just 28 years old buried 4 December 1836.

I cannot find a burial on family search at all for his parents also john marshman who was baptised 8 January 1786 and married sarah murch 19 October 1807, I was wondering because Bristol had busy docks in those days john and sarah marshman could of moved away from the UK?

Hi,
I have checked the BAFHS CD and can confirm the marriage of John MARSHMAN & Sarah MURCH at St Paul, Bristol on 19th October 1807. I can also confirm John's burial on 4th December 1836.
I have also checked the GFHS burial index for Gloucestershire, and there is NO sign of a burial for John & Sarah.

Family Search is quite limited in its coverage. Have you tried finding John & Sarah post 1841 on Census'? Are you sure they weren't in the UK after their son's death?

thanks to both of you in interest in my post, ive tried everything such as a remarriage for sarah and looked at both 1841 and 51 census. They would of both been still relatively young by 1841 at around 55 years old so I wonder where they was, I know john was born in Bristol 1786, sarah I believe was older baptised 1782 at Exeter, are their records of passanger list from 1809-41 from Bristol?
