Frances GAGE
« on: Monday 25 November 13 03:14 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I'm looking for information on a Frances Gage who was born (according to her marriage certificate) 27th December 1867 in Weymouth, Dorset.

Her parents were a Wilfred or Wilford Gage and Rebecca or Fanny KEECH.

She emigrated to Australia sometime before 1891.

Any help would be appreciated for this elusive member of the family.

not seeing a cert ref number under gage or gauge for Weymouth but the latter has about 3 births in and around the period u seek for frances........
the family surname seems to be more of axminster than weymouth......

have u considered a 2nd marriage????

but i did have a good scout around and saw nort....

but this appears>

Births Dec quarter 1866   Keech    Frances A    in    Weymouth {    5a   327}
it is possible she only knew her age from the christening ..... or there twas something amiss of her needing to be older...... ????
soz

Hello and thank you for the responses!
I'm afraid I didn't capitalise the surname. Frances's parents were Wilfred or Wilford GAGE and Rebecca or Fanny KEECH. Frances Gage was her surname when she married John Mornington in Sydney after emigrating. The marriage certificate says her father's occupation is a mariner.

Thanks again for any help you can give.

Hello there,it doesn't matter if the surname is in capitals or not,we understood the question  ;D

We are saying that we cannot find a birth of a Frances Gage in the right place at the right time, nor a marriage of a couple with those names.

If you haven't already heard of our great free BMD website ,here's the URL for it.
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/

Maybe others will have more info later.

Regards

Carol

"Her parents were a Wilfred or Wilford Gage and Rebecca or Fanny KEECH. "

I was actually curious of the definition of parentals without a birth cert......   from where or how did the determination  be proven that the mentioned were in fact the associate kin....and or the possibles of adoptive status or out of wedlock....?

i think u may need to use > http://www.stcaths.com/   and do a request........

Why would someone use St Caths, if you want to order a cert use the official GRO website,it will cost you just £9-25.

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

But at this stage we don't have a ref number to order anything?

carol..................

because if you look on the site ..... down the left hand side there is an icon one can use to do look ups of probmatic situations such as the one in this post! And they are most obliging to well constructed requisites as I have found, having used them for many years..... but what would I know I am just a humble genealogist doing this caper since the 1980s.......
